Halo Helmet WIP 2 by RedDevil00 Halo Helmet WIP 2 by RedDevil00
Update on my Pepakura Halo Mark VI Helmet

The last upload was the model just completed, still paper. This has now been given 3 coats of resin on the outside and fibreglassed on the inside. It is now fully strengthened and more like hard plastic than paper. I have temporarily fitted the visor to see how it looked. Most people use proper bike visors (thick plastic) but this is just a visor insert, alot cheaper and probably easier to fit. The helmet is slightly big at the sides and front inside but i will be padding it with foam anyway so hopefully that will help fix that

Next stage is bondo (body filler) to smooth areas, shape and hopefully fix some of the warping. I will be going onto this stage once i get to this stage with the last 2 Gears models im finishing. Once the bondo is done and sanded, it will be ready to prime and paint

Heres a few other pics of it at this current stage:

I may or may not fit the led lights on it im not sure yet

I am also working on a Gears of War costume (Baird/Carmine version) and some other various models. Once i finish what im currently working on i want to make another Halo helmet, most likely a Nobel 6 one. If you're interested you can follow my work here on the 405th forum:

Thanks. Bondo is just an American brand name but people always just refer to this as Bondo, its just car body filler. To smooth all the polygonal type angles that pepakura gives to make it all flat and sand to give a nice finish. I've yet to get onto that stage myself, everything i've done so far is stuck at the completed fibreglassed stage to go on to bondo but not yet tried it

I just use normal fibreglass polyester resin. Any general type should work fine though. You can also use stuff like liquid plastic (easyflo) as an alternative to resin. I use cray valley polyester resin then an open weave fibreglass cloth
